বাংলাদেশ বেতার এএম, the historic radio station, has a rich legacy dating back to its inception as the Sound Extension Center in 1939. It operated from a rented house on Nazimuddin Road before relocating to Shahbagh in 1960. During the liberation war, it played a pivotal role, launching the ‘Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra’. In 1983, the broadcasting station moved to the National Radio Building in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, আগারগাঁও. Bangladesh Betar AM stands as a symbol of the nation’s resilience and commitment to providing quality radio programming to its audience.
The first wireless radio station in the country, known as the Sound Extension Center, began operations. Originally, on December 16, 1939, All India Radio began broadcasting from a rented house on 'Nazimuddin Road'. Later in 1960, the radio transmission center was relocated to the heart of Shahbagh. During the liberation war, this center played a unique position in our great freedom effort by launching 'Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra'. On July 30, 1983, Shahbag's broadcast station was relocated to the National Radio Building in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, আগারগাঁও.
